When it comes time to improve your oral health, eradicate risk factors associated with oral emergencies as there are treatments you can employ before professional help can be given. Oftentimes, the choices you make immediately after an oral emergency has occurred can be the difference between a long recovery and a short and successful one.
If you have ever suffered any damage to teeth, it is important to apply gauze to your mouth as needed. Beforehand, you’ll need to rinse out your mouth to remove any debris that may be present. When applying gauze, hold it in place to stop the bleeding. If bleeding fails to stop after 5 to 10 minutes, you may need to visit the emergency room. In severe cases when teeth are knocked out, place the tooth in a liquid solution so you can reinsert the tooth at a later time.
If you have ever suffered a lost dental filling, fortunately, it can often be repaired or replaced rather easily by your dentist. However, it is important to make sure that you protect the exposed tooth by placing a piece of sugarless gum over the cavity or using over-the-counter dental cement. Similarly, if you lose your dental crown, you will need to cover the vulnerable tooth with a cotton swab. The area may be sensitive, so you should add a little clove oil to the cotton. In some situations, you can reinsert the crown over the top of a tooth until it can be properly restored by your dentist.
