Surgery

  • Extractions
    • A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that is damaged, decayed, or causing crowding or discomfort—such as impacted wisdom teeth. While many extractions can be performed in our office, there are times when a tooth is more complex and may need to be referred to an oral surgeon. Our goal is always to ensure your comfort and safety by choosing the best treatment path for your needs.
  • Bone Grafting
    • Bone grafting is a procedure used to restore and rebuild jawbone that has been lost due to tooth extraction, periodontal disease, or trauma. At Seguin Smiles, we use bone grafts to create a strong foundation for future dental implants or to preserve bone structure after tooth removal. The graft material stimulates natural bone regeneration, helping maintain facial structure and oral health.
  • Implant Placement
    • The process of dental implant placement is done in steps to ensure comfort, precision, and long-term success. First, the area is numbed, and the titanium implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone where the missing tooth was. Over the next few months, the implant naturally fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration. Once healing is complete—usually in 3 to 6 months—a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is securely attached to the implant. At Seguin Smiles, we carefully plan and guide you through each stage to ensure a smooth experience and a confident, lasting smile.
  • Sinus Lifts
    • A sinus lift, or sinus augmentation, is a procedure that adds bone to the upper back jaw to prepare for dental implants. It’s often needed when there isn’t enough bone height due to tooth loss, gum disease, or natural anatomy. During the procedure, the sinus membrane is gently lifted, and bone graft material is placed into the space. This creates a stable foundation for future implants. Healing typically takes a few months while the new bone fuses with your natural bone. After healing, implants can be safely placed in the area.
  • Frena Release
    • A frena release, also called a frenectomy, is a minor surgical procedure used to remove or reposition a tight frenum—the small band of tissue under the tongue or upper lip. When overly tight, this tissue can cause speech difficulties, feeding challenges, or gaps between teeth. At Seguin Smiles, we perform this quick procedure comfortably and safely to improve oral function and development.
  • Gingival Grafting
    • Gingival grafting is used to treat gum recession, which can expose the roots of teeth and lead to sensitivity or increased risk of decay. This procedure involves transplanting healthy gum tissue—either from the patient or a donor source—to the affected area. The result is improved gum coverage, protection for the tooth root, and a more even gumline for a healthier, more attractive smile.
  • Pocket Depth Reduction
    • Pocket reduction surgery is a procedure used to treat advanced gum disease by cleaning out harmful bacteria and reducing the depth of the pockets that form between your teeth and gums. When these pockets become too deep, they can trap plaque and bacteria that are difficult to clean with regular brushing and flossing, leading to further damage. During the procedure, the area is numbed for your comfort, and the gums are gently lifted to thoroughly clean the roots of the teeth. The gum tissue is then repositioned to fit more snugly around the teeth, making it easier to keep the area clean and maintain healthy gums. At Seguin Smiles, our goal is to preserve your natural teeth and support long-term oral health.
